Aliases ( Manchester, England)
For those of you who, like us, have been stuck with a large Sikth-shaped hole in your lives over the last couple of years, a solution could be at hand, in the form of Aliases. Brought together by ex-Sikth guitarist Pin, Aliases have made it their mission to push the limits of modern metal, and having signed to Basick Records, and wowed the audience at last year’s Euroblast festival in Cologne, they’ve started in the best possible fashion. While their technically adept, unhinged progressive-metal is somewhat redolent of Pin’s former outfit, this lot are fast developing their own distinctive stamp: see their demo track ‘We Should Never Have Met’ (link below) for an indication of what to expect from their upcoming EP. With shitloads of promise and laudable heritage (drummer Darren Pugh and Bassist Joe Heaton previously played in Manchester’s Veils), Aliases deserve your undivided attention.
