And Hell Followed With
Proprioception
Earache
Fuck me, Earache have been hyping the hell out of this one. Every week my inbox has been littered with updates as to what these boys have been up to in the months leading up to this release of this deathcore slab. Well, I’ve finally got my hands on a bleeped copy so, after enduring weeks of updates, all I can say is Earache, this fucker had better be worth the hype.
The answer to that million dollar question really depends on what side of the deathcore fence you sit on. If you’re a Morbid Angel death metal fan then, to be honest, you’ll probably hate everything this band and their genre stand for. Despite the odd Testament-esque melody running through the veins of Proprioception, the rest of the album is as scene deathcore as you could want. It’s got gang-shouts, pig-squeal vocals, blast-beats and filthy guitars, all of which add up to a result which sounds like plenty of other scene bands out there these days. On the other hand, if you’re a fan of slimy outfits like Annotations Of An Autopsy, then the sort of hardcore-meets-death-metal filth these boys churn out on Venom Spitter will sit well alongside the million other bands you have on your Ipod. Whether it will stand out from all those other bands is another question because, while there is no doubting that musically and vocally, And Hell Followed With hit the spot it has to be said that so do so many other bands doing a similar thing.
Still, when it all clicks into place, as it does on Rotting Procession for example, it is hard to deny that And Hell Followed With are a mighty addition to the well populated deathcore scene. However, whether the wait has been worth it after the endless email bombardments, the jury is still out on that.
