Chase The Sunset ( Monmouth, Wales)
21st Century Wales might be more renowned for producing premier pop-rock acts than anything else, but like in every nation with electricity and a smattering of guitar shops, there’s a lot going on that runs counter to the musical orthodoxy. Chase The Sunset came together from an assortment of former coal-mining communities, and since forming in 2009 this five-piece have barely paused for breath, producing an admirably professional-sounding EP in the form of ‘Nights Like These’ and gigging all over their home nation in a blaze of incandescent riffs and infectious melody. With one foot in the progressive metal camp and another in that of ambient post-hardcore, Chase The Sunset aim for both the heart and mind, and if the invitation to share stages with Funeral For A Friend, Sikth, Bring Me The Horizon and Misery Signals, to name a few, is anything to go by, their efforts are not going unnoticed.
