Fall Against Fate ( Hertfordshire, England)
Hertfordshire’s Fall Against Fate don’t claim to produce anything particularly groundbreaking. Well aware that percussive, bowel-rupturingly heavy technical metal is somewhat in vogue at the minute, this five-piece take an admirably down to earth approach to the ol’ self promotion lark, letting their music do the talking: and ‘If Not For Ourselves’, their latest EP, is plenty hard to ignore. Having undergone numerous setbacks and a rotating door line-up since their formation in 2008, they’ve simply picked themselves up and gone for broke, and that shows in the white-knuckle, end-of-rope feel of the EP, ‘All The World’s A Stage’ kicking things off in fittingly vituperative style, while the chorus section of ‘Le Corps’ reveals a taste for the cinematic which neatly compliments the array of cataclysmic riffery and paint-stripping vocals. A couple of their tracks veer close to the generic zone but all things considered, Fall Against Fate have a lot of promise.
