Hello Mexico ( London, England)
I have a confession to make. Upon hearing the name Hello Mexico I groaned inwardly, anticipating another sub-standard bunch of Paramore/YMA6/Get Up Kids copyists. How wrong I was. While Hello Mexico will probably be lumped into the post-hardcore/alt-rock category by lazy journalists (ahem), there’s a hell of a lot going on in the likes of ‘The Shape Of These Years’ and ‘Brother, Move On,’ a depth of feeling and level of compositional skill that’s surprising in such a young band. Hailing from London, the five-piece have two EPs available so far (check ‘em both out on Spotify if you have a spare few minutes), both of which give ample evidence of this lot’s potential, latest release ‘Five Twenty Seven’ revealing a maturity that sets them apart from many of their peers. It will be really interesting to see where Hello Mexico go from here.
