Ahead of the release of their debut album, The Slaughter, Incite talk to Planet Loud about the album and their family ties.

Planet Loud – Hi, thanks for taking the time to do this. How are things going today?
Incite – Great, I’m at home doing tons of interviews for the record as well as rehearsing with the band before the holidays. All is good it’s been nice to finally play the songs, were going to be doing a few PHX as well.

Planet Loud – Your debut album ‘The Slaughter’ was released recently. How does it feel to finally get it out there for people to hear?
Incite – It’s a huge accomplishment for us. We have worked really hard to reach this goal. So it feels good to have everything starting out in the right direction. I know this is just the beginning though.

Planet Loud – Was there a time when you thought it might never happen?
Incite – No way I’ am glad it took the time it did 2 years with the current line-up felt very fast to me. I always knew in my mind that this was what I will be doing for my life. I am only 24 years old so I knew if I just did not stop and worked my ass off. That it would pay off some way. I always love a challenge that’s what drives me in life.

Planet Loud – What are the bands plans now that the album has been released? Can we expect you over in the UK any time soon?
Incite – We will be in Europe summer of 2010 for the festivals. I can’t say which one’s yet but keep posted to our website for dates. Europe/UK will be our main focus for this album so I expect Incite in Europe and the UK for a lot of tours over the next few years.

Planet Loud – Now we couldn’t ignore the fact that Richie is the son of Max Cavalera. Does the band feel extra pressure or think that expectations are higher because of this?
Incite – I don’t think so we really just did what we had to and no one really talked about it until the album came out. Then we all realized that people were trying to hold us up to sepultura, and CC. We didn’t try to copy it we just did what we liked and tried to make a good record. But to try and do what he has done at this point is a little crazy we are just beginning, he is a legend so we try to just do our thing.

Planet Loud – Max and Igor took you out in support of Cavalera Conspiracy last year. What did you learn from that experience?
Incite – It was huge for us I had just replaced the line-up and all the music so it was a test for us to see what the fans were thinking and how well this band did together on the road. I believe we grew so much getting to play with 4 other bands and be the opener and to set the bar every night for all these bands was awesome we love to play live and getting to test the album on tour was huge for us. We wrote most of this album on that tour.

Planet Loud – You were also main support for Soulfly in Europe and the UK earlier this year. How did your first experience in Europe go?
Incite – That tour was killer it was our first time to U.k/Europe so we were very excited. We had just done 2 U.S tours so we felt ready all the album was ready so we got to play the entire record every night. The metal scene is so much bigger over there so the shows were nuts from day 1. We did 57 shows in 59 days. We knew if we survived this that we could do anything. I can’t wait to slay again.

Planet Loud – Both Max and Igor have been in the business along time. How have they helped you get to this point in your career?
Incite – Well mostly Max from playing with Nailbomb to Soulfly it really moulded me into a strong live performer and learned the ins and outs of the business. Since Iggor came back it’s been awesome. To jam on the CC album was very big for me. I have been very lucky.

Planet Loud – Is it nice having people of their stature around to give you advice if you need it?
Incite – It is but I have never really asked them for advice I am very independent and just did it on my own like I said. My father gave me the opportunity to perform live and learn from experience and learn from screwing up. That was how I learned to sing and rock out. If I needed anything though they are defiantly the 2 people to ask.

Planet Loud – You also have a management deal with Gloria Cavalera’s Oasis Management. It must be nice to benefit from her experience in the business side of the industry?
Incite – She really has been a great help for us and really showed me the ropes to the business. I am very glad to have her involved, she is a pioneer, and very respected. So she gives us a strong and professional atmosphere which I expect. I love a tight ship and everything flows perfect with her.

Planet Loud – Of course there are advantages in this situation, but there must be some disadvantages as well?
Incite – It is very early to tell I am just going with the flow everything has been killer to this point and I really work hard to over come any disadvantages what ever they may be. Life on the other hand is a whole different story ….

Planet Loud – There will of course be some people saying you have only made it because of who you know. What do you say to those people?
Incite – I just don’t listen! It is supposed to be about the music. If they don’t like it for who I am than what ever I can’t help where I come from or what my background is. I just do what I love and in the end it will all be cool.

Planet Loud – Thanks for you time today.
Incite – Thank you for the support man. Spread the word The Slaughter in stores worldwide.
