Lithurgy ( Brighton, England)
If you recognise that name it’s because this lot have been around for a few years now but if you don’t it’s probably because they’ve yet to properly escape the clutches of their south coast scene. But don’t let their limited travel experience fool you, Lithurgy are smart, tight, and totally capable of blowing most seasoned acts off stage. Sounding like The Dillinger Escape Plan slowing down to bang their heads to classic Metallica and old-school Sepultura, the boys in the band combine obvious nifty chops with big riffs, thunderous percussion, dual vocals and, essentially, ideas aplenty. Seriously, if someone said the tracks on their Myspace were lost Sikth classics no one would question it for a second. Now check their listings, go see if they can shred just as hard live, and make sure it was worth them finally booking some time in the van this winter.
