Planet Loud – Hey Eddy, thanks for your time. Hows it going?

Eddy Brimson – Its all going very well at the moment in fact I am in Sydney, Australia at the moment on a three week tour.

Planet Loud – I believe you appeared at Guilfest recently, what else have you been up to?

Eddy Brimson – Guilfest was fun, it was the only festival I managed to get to this year so my wife and I made the most of it. Aside from that Ive been writing a new one man show titled: Kids … I couldnt eat a whole one! all about the joy of living a childfree existence.

Planet Loud – For those of our readers who dont know who you are, can you give us a potted biography?

Eddy Brimson – Child, idiot, graphic designer, musician, political activist deemed enemy of the state, author/presenter/ actor, stand-up comedian.

Planet Loud – Youre a well known name among the stand-up circuit. What got you into stand-up comedy?

Eddy Brimson – Purely by chance and a need to pay the rent. I was running out of options and I just cant work for anyone else.

Planet Loud – I know youve done TV and presenting, which well talk about later, but getting up on stage to do stand-up is a whole different game. What was your first gig like?

Eddy Brimson – TV presenting is the easiest thing I have ever done, you just be yourself where as stand-up scares the shit out of me. My first gig was great as i was in front of friends and other start outs. The second was a shocker as was the third, the forth, the fifth ….

Planet Loud – Do you get bothered by hecklers?

Eddy Brimson – I shouldnt say this but I really dont get heckled very often. Ive no idea why because I am not an aggressive stand-up.

Planet Loud – What advice would you give any budding stand-up comics?

Eddy Brimson – Its all about stage time at the beginning and also do your best stuff so as to nail it rather than try and write a new set every time you get up there.

Planet Loud – How would you describe your act?

Eddy Brimson – I am a story teller really … observational filth describes it best I think.

Planet Loud – On the stand-up comedy circuit, which comedians do you respect / look-up too?

Eddy Brimson – All the best comics are on the live circuit because they are not restricted by TV. Check out; Ian Cognito, Glen Wool, Craig Campbell and Gavin Webster but I could go on and on there are so many.

Planet Loud – Aside from stand-up comedy, youve got seven books under your belt. Can you tell us a bit about them?

Eddy Brimson – All the book are about football fan culture and what it is like to follow a team live rather than on the TV. There is plenty about the hooligan side of it, something I was wrapped up in during the late seventies and eighties but also much more about the state of the game and how its all going. Ive also written a novel called Hooligan, that is the book I am most proud of and its sold over 25,000 copies so it cant be that bad.

Planet Loud – With the start of the football season upon us, it would be hard not to talk to you about the sport. What are your predictions for this season?

Eddy Brimson – Watford will struggle and Hemel Hempstead Town will not qualify for the FA Cup first round proper so same old same old really.

Planet Loud – What do you think of the state of English football in 2009?

Eddy Brimson – Football lost its way the moment the started to refer to it as the entertainment industry rather than a sport. The Premier League and the Champions League are just killing the game.

Planet Loud – Do you still go to many games? Do you remember the first game you went to?

Eddy Brimson – I watch more non-league football now than league stuff but if I am on the road and there is a game at a ground Ive not been to Ill pay it a visit. I did Southport and Bury last year … rock and roll. My first game was Watford VS. Bristol Rovers 0-0 … no wonder I got addicted to it!

Planet Loud – Youve also done TV & presenting, what have been your favourite roles/presenting jobs to date?

Eddy Brimson – I once filmed a live hair transplant … it wasnt the blood that nearly made me faint but the smell of flesh being cut off the skull.

Planet Loud – What are your plans for the future?

Eddy Brimson – I really want to tour the show Ive written at the Australian and New Zealand festivals next year and I also have a football idea on the go so I might be getting back into that area.

Planet Loud – Where can Eddy Brimson fans find out more information on you?

Eddy Brimson – www.eddybrimson.com or Facebook.

Planet Loud – Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

Eddy Brimson – I was once dragged out of bed bat machine gun point by firearms officers representing Thames Valley Police.

Planet Loud – Thanks for your time Eddy, anything else you want to say?

Eddy Brimson – Keep happy and remember its never too late.);
