Billed as London’s scariest tourist attraction, The London Bridge Experience is an hour and a half interactive, informative and, yes, pant-wettingly scary insight into the history of London Bridge and the London Tombs. Made up of two parts, firstly the informative and interactive London Bridge Experience and secondly, the scary bit, the London Tombs, Planet Loud ventured down beneath the rat-infested depths of London to see if it lived up to its billing.
Starting off with the more educational element to the experience, groups of 25 are plunged into the history of London Bridge. Split into a number of interactive, entertaining and humourus sections, characters from each era take you through the history of the bridge from the Viking age through to the Great Fire. With a good element of personal interaction between the characters and the visitors, the experience is a good way to discover a bit of London’s darker history without having to spend it in some stuffy museum.At the end of part one, you’re then given the choice to leave the attraction or head down into the tombs. Take option two and you’re given a hard hat and a hi-viz jacket before being plunged into the depths of the London tombs for a forty minute scream-filled journey. Weaving through the corridors, a plethora of characters jump out of the woodwork putting you on edge as you make your way through the darkness. Along the way various effects test your senses to their limits and, it is with a relief that you open the final door to see the sign WELL DONE, YOU’VE SURVIVED THE LONDON TOMBS.
So, is it London’s scariest attraction? Well, yes and no. If you chose the first option and bailed out of the attraction at the half way point then you’d think not however, if you did summon up the courage and venture down into the second part of the attraction then there is a good chance that it got your pulse racing as this is where the London Bridge Experience really lives up to its billing.);
