Meet Trigger The Bloodshed one of the UK’s heaviest bands. They’re also one of the angriest bands judging by their views on the state our fair nation is in as Planet Loud found out when they spoke to the band.
Planet Loud – Although a lot of kids will have discovered the band through Myspace, is it fair to say that Trigger aren’t your typical Myspace band?
Trigger The Bloodshed – “People are surprised when they come and see us. We play a lot of gigs with bands from the Myspace scene and so when kids see us they’re surprised at what we give them which is just brutal death metal.”
Planet Loud – In a scene that is saturated with image-obsessed bands, how important is a band like Trigger The Bloodshed?
Trigger The Bloodshed – “The UK has been lacking in some properly brutal bands, obviously there are bands like Gorerotted but there aren’t many who are getting the blasts and the real grime goin. The music was written to be played in a angry, aggressive way and so that is what comes out of us when we go on stage. It’s the way we feel about things that are going on around us at the moment.”
Planet Loud – Do you think people can see that with you guys this is the real deal?
Trigger The Bloodshed – “To us metal is a statement of some of the anger we feel. To a lot of bands, metal is a fashion statement but, for us, this is real. It is about passion.”
Planet Loud – What inspired the album?
Trigger The Bloodshed – “The album is a way of talking about the things that make us angry. It’s about scum. you know, the really fucking dirty people. Purgation is, it’s kind of a story, it’s about real things, really fucked up shit. There is so much shit going on in England at the moment. I mean, there is that guy who was on the bus and he asked someone to stop throwing chips at his girlfriend and got stabbed, That’s fucked man. That’s what inspires this album, that is what makes us angry. We’re not angry for the sake of it, we’re angry at shit like that.
Planet Loud – So your outlook on Britain is pretty bleak?
Trigger The Bloodshed – “The thing is that Britain is properly fucked the legal system is fucked and everyone makes it so hard to prosecute the people who are in the wrong. Why should it be like that? Why should it be that just those who are in the wrong have human rights? There was a story on the news the other day that said that the prisons were too full and that they were only going to put people who had done really serious things in prison but how do you define what is really bad? It’s like sure, murder is obviously serious but at the same time so is fucking up someones car because of the stress and shit it causes that person. Identity fraud. It’s all shit, it’s all bad. It just doesn’t get as much major news as murder or terrorism but it’s still shit.”
Planet Loud – Its obvious that the band is a form of release for the band. How do you wind down after a gig?
Trigger The Bloodshed – “Well, you can’t just come off stage and be calm but you have to just chill out and relax then you can go back to being a nice guy again. We hope that kids come to our shows and really get into what we’re doing. We want it to be a release for them as much as it is for us. Even if there is only one person there, we go up there and give 100 percent. There is no point in us coming off stage and saying ‘well, that was a shit gig..’”
Planet Loud – In the coming months, you’re hitting the road pretty hard…
Trigger The Bloodshed – “We want to tour as much as we can. Some of the tours that we’ve had already have been down to our hard work. Some bands don’t put in the effort but we aren’t like that, even though we’ve just put out the first album we are already thinking about the second.”
Planet Loud – So despite your views on Britain, everything else is pretty good for you guys..
Trigger The Bloodshed – We’re so excited about what the future has in store this is what we want to do for the rest of our lives.”
