Wisdom In Chains
Everything You Know
I Scream Records
Four albums in six years isn’t bad going from a band that hail from two very separate continents. After bursting on to the East Coast hardcore scene in 2002, Wisdom in Chains have expressed their unwavering determination to fully launch their musical career with relentless dedication – both musically and to their loyal fan-base.
Their fourth full release starts with ‘Guilty Intro’, a sinister computerised voice condemning the listener to death for being easily manipulated and wholly unmotivated. The record then rips open with the confrontational gang-vocal accompanied track ‘Bully’, which really sets the tone of ‘Everything You Know’. Although Wisdom in Chains are principally dominated by hardcore sensibilities, there are strong punk ethics and the inclusion of sporadic stoner-rock riffs, which adds enough depth and colour to pardon them from being pigeon-holed. Lyrically, be prepared to embark on a double-rollercoaster ride of both optimism and pessimism as Wisdom in Chains share their deepest hopes and fears.
Lou Koller of Sick of it All fame, who practically spear-headed the genre back in the mid 80’s, guests and in doing so fully cements the album with the kind of street-cred that money just can’t buy.
