Metallica. Undoubtedly one of the biggest metal bands of all time. A band who’ve shifted an obscene amount of albums and played to millions of people all over the world. Over the course of nearly 3 decades there is plenty of interest Metalli-facts to fill a book with and, believe me, there have been plenty of books written on these metal titans so do we really need another? Obviously we do or so thinks the author of All That Matters.
Still, if you’re a Metallica fan and, lets’ face it, who isn’t, then All That Matters is probably going to end up in your collection of Metallica memorabilia however, as it appears that most of the material is pulled from various interviews and websites, there will be very little new in here to excite you. In fact, really, when you’re talking about one of the biggest metal bands on the planet, what else can be dragged up from their thirty year history? Having said that, there is enough here to keep you reading and the book isn’t overly long (it weighs in at just over two hundred pages) so really, if you’re a fan of the band or just a metal fan in general then All That Matters gives you a good insight into what goes on behind the doors of Planet Metallica. Documenting the ups and downs of the bands career, the insight into the band is littered with photos and enjoyable stories but, at the end of the day, nothing too surprising.
So, there we have it, another book documenting the Giants of Heavy Metal. At £15 All That Matters isn’t overly priced but, if you’ve read any book on the band up to now, the money could be put to better use elsewhere – like saving up to go to Poland to see the Big Four. Now that is going to be something worth writing about!
