RECORD REVIEW DomminLove Is Gone (Roadrunner Records) VIEW COMMENTS [0 Comments] | ADD COMMENTS ‘Dommin is the sound of the broken-hearted’ alleges front-man Kristofer Dommin. I’d contest that it’s the sound of his broken-heart – this album seems far too personal to evoke the slightest bit of woe from an outsider. Dommin is a surprising signing for Roadrunner Records as nothing about the band particularly stands out or strikes a remotely interesting chord. Their debut ‘Love is Gone’ offers uninspiring melodies, bland (and often cringe-worthy) lyrics and vocals of reminiscent of a weaker Danzig and a less authoritative Volbeat. Musically the gothic-crooning of Dommin alludes to the sense that they are approaching the league of The Cure B-sides, but really nothing more. The classical element of the record is perhaps the only part of the that provides an enjoyably favourable sparkle – but it is an occasional feature. The love-metallers fail to break any new ground at all here and after a while you just feel like you’re trapped in a long HIM song. - Rating [3] Release Date - 15 February 2010 Reviewed by Chloe Scannapieco Find more articles on Dommin Find YouTube Videos on Dommin Download Love Is Gone here Related Tags USER COMMENTS - 0 Comments ADD COMMENT |
